Evaluating Business Intelligence Reporting Tools

I work at a company as a junior report developer. I was assigned the task of finding a business intelligence reporting tool to run reports for our sales force. When I first started searching for reporting tools, I came across many traditional BI vendors, but our company was looking for open source BI vendors. While I was browsing the web, I found a few different companies such as Pentaho and Actuate. Both websites had great information about their product lines. I decided first try the trial version of Actuate BIRT to develop some test reports. I am currently using the tool and find it very intuitive and easy to use. I plan on also trying out other vendors tools such as Pentaho and will report back with an update after I evaluate them as well. We are also interested in possible using SaaS BI, to keep our overhead low.
